Meeting Jenny LaBaw has been a life changing experience for me and a unique friendship that I am thankful to have. She has inspired me to do more than I ever thought I could, and she has a way of making working out fun while you're doing it, but then the next day, you can hardly move! And learning from Jen that it is best to work out even when you feel sore, well that was a new concept for me! But it's true, and it worked! The soreness wasn't so bad after that. She has helped me make working out a part of my daily life, whether it's in the gym, on a hike, or out on the slopes (or skiing on the lake!) As long as you make an effort to do something active every day, you will feel so much better not only physically, but also mentally. She has also taught me the correct way to do exercises. You know how you can do an exercise and not really get the benefit of it because you are doing it incorrectly? She has the ability to see what you are doing, and make a minor adjustment, and all of a sudden you feel what the exercise is supposed to be accomplishing. So your workouts become more efficient and produce better results. She also has unique gift to relate to any age, weight or ability level, and make you feel encouraged, uplifted, and good about taking the first step to a better life. And that is what Jen has taught me. She is a trainer who really cares about your well being and a truly wonderful person to know!

"I have always been athletic and pretty self disciplined with working out, so I sometimes think I don't need a trainer -Jenny changed my mind about that! She is so on top of it, very knowledgeable of the body and exercises that fit your goals. Plus she pushes you! I noticed a significant change in muscle tone and firmness of my body after training with her for just a few weeks. She is very professional and personable - not intimidating at all. She makes you feel comfortable and is very motivating. I have also witnessed her working with beginners to professional athletes, so she is very well rounded."
"It's amazing how just having that little guidance and goal from the online training helps me push myself. I know what's expected and I just do it! I don't have to think about what I'm doing next, so that leaves no down time and keeps my momentum going and my heart rate up."

"Last year I completed my third sprint triathlon, and as part of my goals to continue to improve, I decided to commit myself to an Olympic distance tri; basically it's twice the distance of the sprint (1 mi/25 mi/6 mi). There was only one little problem; my job requires me to travel... A LOT!  I knew that training for a triathlon takes a lot of time and dedication; the second of which is in abundance, but the time was the piece I knew I was going to be short on. I had a "live" trainer last year who helped me quite a bit, but it was almost impossible for me to keep a regular schedule with him. I heard about Jenny's online training from my colleague and friend, Cathy Desautels (Cathy is Jenny's mom...) and thought this might be just the ticket to keep me motivated, and have someone on my side while I'm on the road!  What a difference this has made in my training! Although it's only February, and I have a few months to go, I feel confident with Jenny to help me along through the cold winter, I know I will be much better prepared in the spring when the training season really begins.  The biggest benefits from her program include the accountability; something I never thought I needed. Having that ear to talk things over with, and be honest with, is one of the best tools. In addition, I really like the video clips that accompany each of the workouts she sets up for me. It makes it easy to be "green" and not have to print out each workout before I leave; I just log in to the site from wherever I am!  Best of all, is the positive reinforcement I receive from Jenny when I do have one of those "off" days...she encourages me to keep going, don't give up and keep smiling; because every day I make one small change, it only increases the possibility for more changes the next!
Thanks Jenny, for all your valuable, real, and "virtual" support!   ~Kim~

"Jenny LaBaw has changed my life.  She gently guided me into someone who now thrives on working out.  She and I had private training sessions two times per week.  I grew to I love it.  Making it into the gym made my day.  I owe this change to Jenny.  Now that she is no longer in the area, I was concerned that I would not have the same drive as I did when we met weekly.  Surprisingly, through A Fit Place, I still am enthused to carry on the same pace as if she were still here.  The assigned workouts are challenging and fun.  I still get to visit with her from time to time, if I am having difficulties.  Jenny is readily available to help offer suggestions if modification in the routine is needed.  Her goal is to help me  be fit, at whatever level I am.  Jenny LaBaw at A Fit Place offers a perfect opportunity to team up with a professional, at an affordable price, who will guide us safely to a healthy and fit lifestyle. Join in, you won't regret it!"

I have known Jenny since her college days when she was a multi-sport athlete, a dedicated student, and just a great person.  A few months ago my daughter suggested that I should try Jenny's on line training. I was delighted that Jenny agreed to help me.  Here I am, a 57 year old woman who hasn't exercised in, well....ever.....I didn't have much in the way of equipment and I am not computer savvy.  None of that stopped Jenny.  She came up with an exercise program for me. I printed the pictures and directions and any time I had a question or comment Jenny answered back the same day.  She changed up my program when I told her about having arthritis in my hands/wrists. She switched things around to keep me from getting bored. Jenny has always been encouraging and funny, even when I admitted that I could not stay away from the candy bowl on Valentine's day!   I feel better and think I have more energy and I have lost between 5 and 7 pounds so far.  I appreciate everything Jenny has done to keep me going.
Thanks, Jenny!

My personal training experience with Jenny LaBaw:
When I talked to my doctor about getting a personal trainer, she said, “You have to call Jen LaBaw”.  She knew that I was self conscious and intimidated about the gym atmosphere, but she felt that Jen was the perfect person to help me to feel at ease.  She was right, I am at the gym at least five times a week and am no longer worrying about what the people around me are thinking or doing…I simply focus on my workout and how I feel.
Jen truly is the inspiration that keeps me motivated to continue each day.  Our workouts are fun, energizing, inspiring, difficult and most of all, rewarding.  The first time I worked out with Jen, I wanted to quit in the first five minutes…but, by the end of that hour…I wanted more.  I could barely walk my legs hurt so bad, but my mind and the rest of my body felt energized.  I couldn’t wait for the next workout.
Having a personal trainer is the key to my success.  I wouldn't do it without her.  Luckily, Jen is not the drill sergeant type…she motivates by making things fun and showing that hard work and determination does pay off.  Her workouts vary from time to time and she explains to me what we are doing and why we are doing it.  She as educated me on the different muscles and their functions.  She has also shown me that weight is just a number.  While we do look at pounds, we also focus on inches and strength.  It is so important to focus on our health and how our body is feeling and by doing that the rest falls in to place.
In the last six months, I have developed muscle, gained strength, lost weight and inches and gained confidence that I never knew I could I used to say “I am not a runner, so don’t expect me to ever run on that treadmill”.  Now, almost every other workout on the treadmill is a run…and this past summer I started small runs outside.  I never would have done this a year ago.
Thank you so much to Jen!  Without her I couldn’t do it.  She continues to be my motivation to move forward.

Are you trying to figure out how to get in shape and feel better about yourself?  Well, I was you about a year ago.  I was feeling low on energy, disgusted with the way my clothes were fitting, and worst of all embarrassed on how far I had let myself go.  I had some knowledge of how exercise equipment worked and what I needed to do to lose the weight and feel better, but the motivation just wasn't there.  I managed to stay interested in working out for about one month.  It was then that I fell hard off the wagon.
When I didn’t see the instant results and hadn’t lost my 20-pound goal, I became very discouraged and swore off the gym.  Then I met my motivator.  I was referred to Jen LaBaw through a friend who had been working out with her for a few months.  At first I will admit I was a bit intimidated by some of the tings Jen expected from me, but the fear of the unknown quickly faded.  Jen is consistently upbeat, positive, and an incredible motivator.  In less than two months I had anew outlook on fitness and health that I could not have seen on my own.  I had set a goal to complete the Glenwood Triathlon in September of 2007.
Jen not only motivated me to improve my cardiovascular endurance, she also did a great job keeping the workouts fresh and interesting.  There is no repetition and the workouts are fun.  I completed the Triathlon in September and have never been more excited. I have lost 14 pounds and about 4% body fat.  I fit into my clothes better, have more energy, and actually feel good about the way I look.  The most important things that Jen has given me throughout this experience are the passion for health.  She has provided me with the foundation and the knowledge to improve my strength, endurance, discipline, and nutritional habits.  I really cannot say enough about her professionalism, knowledge, and ability to motivate you in any situation.
If you are trying to decide if personal training is for you, I cant’ recommend a better way to stay motivated and see results.  Good Luck.
Sincerely,
Nicole Zoerink

My experience with my personal trainer has been outstanding and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!!  It has been life changing for me.  I am a 48-year-old female who had resigned herself to the idea that life after 40 was pretty much doomed to extra flab and slower metabolism.  It has been liberating to learn that you are really never too old to get in shape and be healthy; you just have to be willing to put out the hard work and commitment!!  It also makes a huge difference in your mental health and energy levels.
My personal trainer has not only been my mentor and coach, she has become my good friend.  She takes a genuine, personal interest in her clients beyond just the workout.  She is a great inspiration through her own physical fitness.  She continually pushes and challenges me, but is always quick with an encouraging word.  Oh yeah, and we get to laughing so much that my abs are always getting a great workout.  I do look forward to each session because of her, which is so nice because there are those days when I don’t especially feel like working out (am I allowed to say that?!?)
When I first made the decision to work with a personal train, friend asked, “Why would you spend that kind of money when you can get a good workout on your own?”  The answer is simple. A good trainer will push you and challenge you beyond what you might accomplish on your own.  They hold you accountable.  They are educated and trained to make sure you get the most out of your workout and that you’re doing it right for max benefit.  Beyond that, the money you spend on a personal trainer is the best personal investment  you will ever make!
Thanks to my personal trainer, Jen, for everything…you’re the best!!

I started using Jenny’s online training 7 months ago. I was already fit when I started but was having reoccurring back problems. It was time for a change in my routine. My old routine was to work out in the gym all winter, downhill ski, and XC ski.
Once spring arrived it was water ski, road bike, and mountain bike. (no gym)  As summer progressed, I would usually be in the ibuprofen bottle and suffering lower back injuries.. After missing a Florida ski trip with my friends because of injuries, I decided to change my routine and emailed Jenny.
Going forward my gym workouts became very different than in the past. I was now using a BOSU, the large balance balls, and mostly free weights. This while balancing on a device or doing one leg balances, while performing the specified exercise. My routine changes every 2 weeks which keeps it challenging and interesting.
The other part of the formula has been diet. Because I have always been active, my diet wasn’t that bad. I did however have an attitude that I could eat and drink anything because I was burning it off. With a new focus on food intake, my energy and endurance have increased. I am leaner, faster, and overall stronger than I was.
I have always been committed to staying fit for the long haul, but it is so easy to get into routines year after year. Being accountable for both specific workouts, and diet, has taken me to a new level of overall fitness.
This past winter I down hill skied with no back pain, even after a day in the bumps. My cycling has been strong this spring already. I have started to water ski and will be back in the course in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to a great water ski season. Jenny is developing a program tailored to my summer activities and lifestyle. That should give me maximum outdoor sports time with a short gym routine to keep me strong in the right places.
I have recommended Jenny to my friends.

Since working with you, my conditioning is so much better than before.  I can do 5-6 (water ski) passes back to back before feeling any muscle fatigue.  Even when I start feeling it then, its not bad and I usually keep going some more.
I am really feeling great.

I got some good news this a.m. with my diet changes my cholesterol dropped 30 points! I have been taking fish and flax oils and it didn't budge so it looks like the cheese and chocolate were the clincher.  So I don't have to take meds for this; the meds cause muscle pain so this is a very good thing.
I am so glad that I found you!  It is like I have a new life!!
